“…So a world-class chef and a Texan real estate investor walk into an Israeli bar.” Sound like the beginning of corny joke? Not quite. In February, team members from the recently completed “Texas Retail” deal gathered to celebrate the acquisition by Migdal and Menora, two of Israel’s largest financial institutions, of a significant interest in a large portfolio of Texas shopping centers. The group of 14 dinner guests (pictured below), comprised of deal team members from both sides of the ocean, including buyer’s counsel, represented by Greenberg Traurig Shareholders Michael Fishman (Chicago) and Joey Shabot (Tel Aviv) and Associate Devora Snyder (Tel Aviv). The lucky group of guests was rewarded for their eight months of hard work closing the deal with a deliciously unique tasting menu, created especially for the evening by top Israeli Chef Meir Adoni and his French co-collaborator, Chef Laurent Azoulay of L’Ekrin (Meribel) and Michelin star fame.
To say the festivities were “over the top” would technically be correct—the dinner was held at Blue Sky, the Hotel Carlton’s penthouse restaurant. But not to worry, everything’s bigger in Texas…and Tel Aviv, it seems.
