The issue of restitution of cultural objects and other assets confiscated during World War II is particularly relevant in Israel. A report authored by the Foundation for the Benefit of Holocaust Victims in Israel estimated that, as of the year 2013, 193,000 Holocaust survivors currently live in Israel, and the number of restitution claims made by Holocaust survivors and their descendants has increased in recent years.
